who are they aimed at, the countless, uncountable stitches, sound stitches, who is lissie rettenwander pointing them at by stitching up, by chaining up her sound space, by weaving it together any which way? who or what is meant to be pinned down or finally pushed towards dissolution? in her world of sounds, she creates simultaneousness and multitude at once, her at times almost childlike playfulness tempts us to hear more, to immerse ourselves in this vast space of vocal and instrumental breaths. a gasping for breath in wild gestures, gentle touches, elementary eruptions, hesitant calls, impetuous attacks ‒ the spectrum of sound events is vast, the dramaturgy admits sound images of the highest intensity and colourfulness. the musical experiment as a resounding-moving performance has its roots in mostly improvised procedures. here lissie rettenwander leaves behind the firm ground of the tried and tested, of familiar harmonies and rhythms, while on the other hand finding surprising structures in ostinato elements of recurring models. electronic manipulations and interventions enable additional developments, and seemingly mechanical sounds form a pulsating and complementing contrast to subtle melodic lines. lissie rettenwander’s music unites highly disparate elements and thus creates unity in exuberant imagination. this talent for the extreme brings forth new things, is able to intrigue and draw attention."
